As far as why it's written this way in terms of characters, I'll have to reveal that later. However, I LOVE twists and turns and authors that mislead and stuff too! I wanted this series to basically say "Don't expect everything to be predictable". Especially in a spy book.
I'm also a big fan of pleasing the audience. I personally try to give the audience what they want, in a way they didn't expect.
