Okay I actually really like Father — he's a very interesting character i thought would be super peaceful and chill or something at first, but the conflict between him and Sthuna, and the one between his gentle nature and feral one is really interesting

I love the way dragon boi is written—he's absolutely feral, sleek as a cat and snappy as a viper. All of that came through beautifully in just a few words, just a little simple narration. Honestly I love the writing style of this whole thing, but this is where it really POPS 😍

As someone who always struggles with those feelings in one form or another, to varying levels (there's a scene in Tangled that describes it perfectly if you replace "I'm a terrible daughter" with "I'm a terrible writer"), this seems to be most writers' realities. I'm not sure if it's something that ever goes away, but I think it's helped by reminding yourself of the reason you write and what you want to write. Things I regularly forget and then have existential crises over every so often. So, no, it's not easy. Especially when you live with people who made a habit of tearing your work down/didn't care when you wanted them to/mocked your fragile dreams/etc. The only thing you can really do is manage it, but the methods you take to manage it are what matters. And I won't list any of my methods because they're all terrible lmao.
But, I guess I jumped in here because I wanted you to know you're not alone, in those uncertainties, in wondering about your stories. The things we write are things close to our souls, and we put our souls into them. So I'll always advocate for doing your best not to compromise on that

Hey, I might've used to be a cynic (still am, I guess, when it comes to my own works), but now I just enjoy stories for what they are, and I like this one and its characters ^^ Besides, if someone doesn't like your work, that just means it's not for them. We write because we love it, because we have something to say, and some people are gonna stomp over that. It's just how the mess of humanity works. But I know I'm not the only one who likes these characters—I see evidence on just about every chapter of how enthusiastic other people besides me are about this world and its denizens. So don't be too hard on yourself, there. This chapter hit the mark for me
