It takes a little time to learn anything. I've been writing for about a decade now and I'm still not where I want to be — keep at it and you'll make it there! I'd also argue detective stories are honestly some of the hardest to write unless you're a savant or something, just because of all the moving pieces you gotta keep track of.
Also if you wanted tips I'm morally obligated to recommend "Being a Better Writer" because that blog helped me a lot lol
