Haha, that internal struggle trying to convince herself *not* to text Nina was doomed (fated?) to fail. The awkwardness and her realizing that Nina is very different from the 'idiots' normally surrounding her is adorable.

I can't wait for them to get through this initial awkward phase -- they'll be so good for each other once they open up a little. This is such a realistic 'opposites attract' scenario. 💜

It's almost funny how bad they are at normal conversation, just in very different ways. And it's nice to see some of Mel's inner doubts and second-guessing as well, despite all her outward fire-cracker confidence.

Oh, her survivor's guilt makes a lot of sense, sadly. Even if it by no means was her fault, that would be hard to shake...

At least she seems to be enjoying her work and her art experiments... and I'm pretty sure she's about to get that sweater delivered... perhaps with some more hope and reasons to live for.

I like the POV shift and the idea of doing it as a diary entry. I always enjoy epistolary forms.

Also, poor Nina. The anxiety is really controlling her -- and then she's being brave, only to be met by those jerk organizers... triggering something that sounds somewhere between trauma response and a panic attack... But I have hope that the next part of the diary entry covering the dinner with Mel is more positive...
