Great start to the story Gurg. I can see a lot of humour here, and not just either the Deez Buns, but the dry humour of taking apart crude jokes as well. Numerous layers of comedy—I like it!
I think you do the cop drama aspect really well with this. I’m getting some
Bungo Stray Dogs vibes mixed with Jujitsu Kaisen, an interesting dynamic for sure! And you have the characters make some great observations of their surroundings that ties well into a cop-drama style.
I find your descriptions of things well done and compelling. You do well to relate the reader to the real world with relatable scenarios even though this is a fantastical world. It makes it easy to pick up as a reader and understand the scene and what the characters are talking about.
As someone who uses humour to hide pain, I can’t help but wonder what pain Hoshino is hiding. After all he seems like such a chipper and upbeat character yet to be placed in such a grizzly scene and profession—I can’t help but wonder about his trauma as a character. It’ll be interesting to see as the story progresses.
