I agree with Bubbles. But to point out what I think you're doing right... I think you're very good with setting up the atmosphere and the drama along with it. Keep doing that. Right now, Kaoru feels like he's so curious that he'll go places he won't naturally visit without a sword or a gun. Still... Good start for me too!

I like Avery, but there's so many green flags here that she seems so sus. But oh my my... I know a monster fricker when I see one.

Also more Atsunori lore is welcome! I find it cool that he's a Yama Oni, but dang he runs out of juice pretty fast. Maybe his enemies are just sizing him up.

Very interesting chapter. I get to see more of his power and its limitations. I find it funny that he just crashes through terrain like a boss. I also hope Atsunori survives through all that yogurt—I mean landslide.
