I am unsure as to how I feel about this story, similar to many other comments that were posted. If I am being fully honest, it was uncomfortable reading some of the chapters too just because of the nature of Devin and the so-called "mommy"'s character. I assume the intention was to create a morally conflicting story - although in this case, it's not my particular cup of tea. I love the writing and as usual I could go on about how far it's improved but the plot was a bit unsettling. The creation of the moral "dilemma" is interesting, but personally, I cannot see any "good" side of 'Mommy' (as one comment mentioned). Regardless of her treatment of Devin - positive or negative - she is, at the end of the day, a child kidnapper. The ending was an interesting twist in terms of Devin's character because it would make sense that he felt the warmth of his memories (he has nothing else to compare them to).
That said. Turning to the structural aspect of things, it was a well-written story and I enjoyed that side of things. The pacing was great, the length was just right. I think that overall there is little to critique regarding the way in which it was written and the grammar and everything is almost perfect. I also really liked in particular the introduction chapter because of the way it established the mood for the piece from the very first sentence onward.
All in all, great job, but I hate you for making me feel this way 😭
