Glad you liked the approach! I still owe the first half of the book a good polish, and many of these names will be gone surely. As much as I love to give the sporty feel, it can get the reader a little lost. And, primarily, the word count. 75k feels like too little, as I still have to close lots of ideas. But we shall see.

Really nice start! I'm not much of a shoujo fan but I can see the passion going in this first chapter. I would hate to be on Kenji's side, hope his second chance goes better than that. 😊
Just as heads up, I noticed you don't have the romance tag on, which you should consider being this a wholesome romance contest. Shoujo could imply that, but I think you could put them both.

If I had to tell a favourite moment it would probably be the emoji texting (LMAO that was amazing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), but I wouldn't be actually sure. Your battle and strategy storytelling are one of your great strengths for sure, I can see the passion put in each of those conversations or actions that seem irrelevant to the romance, but are not at all.
