At the very least, this is my favorite competition novel so far.
The way I had to explain to my band class I wasn’t crying because of the song we were playing, lol. This shit hit me in the feels way too fast. That being said, here are some actual positive and constructive opinions I have about this novel.
- Could benefit from a little more physical character description. Sometimes I struggled picturing the characters other than Radio/Zain, which made the moment at the end when Noah appeared a little less immediately obvious.
+ Amazing comedy. Very silly and lighthearted interactions over a somewhat laid-back narrative which picked up brilliantly. Without the funny moments, I wouldn’t have cried so damn hard.
- It’s paced fine, but it’s just too short :( I want even more from this story, from these characters, from this world. I want a side series featuring Noah’s detective stories… Also on this note, the action is perhaps a bit too gritty sometimes. It’s hard to get into the flow sometimes.
+ Themes are solid, and you’re really good at wrapping it all together. Genuinely hope this one wins or at least makes finals. It would be an honor to compete with a story like this.
