You're absolutely right in condemning the teacher's attitude. The unfortunate truth of the matter, is that in reality, even the most qualified of teachers fail to acknowledge the world from their students' perspectives. Often, it's because the teacher is either stressed, irritated, or both at the moment (i.e. Ai wearing her headphones in class), and it causes them to react negatively in a critical moment. This is one element of many in schools that I really wanted to capture with this story, so I'm very happy that you made mention of it. Keep your eye out for more similar moments.
