As I'm sure everyone's mentioned already, the ancestral communion hall is quite the fun idea, and, also, as I'm sure everyone's already mentioned, the narrative description is very beautiful. My strongest desire at this point of the story is for some form of tension, but I suppose we're going to get that soon with mentions of Iris's mounting academic tensions.
Since I don't really have much in the line of critique, as a fun question I'm wondering- was the two guardian lines both being male (two pearls instead of a pearl and a child) intentional?
