Yeah idk I'm really beginning to think it's by design in the sense that Lena has this detached curiosity to the world around her, only vaguely contemplating her own emotions at times and for very short passages, as though she herself doesn't realize she's having them (or it might just be an 'it's not that deep bro' moment idk). Her almost alien perspective to things is pretty amusing, but the washed out perspective gives the prose this very passive, 'it is what it is' feel which I imagined would go away as the story went on, but so far, it's like nothing has really changed, and what little bits of characterization we get are so sparse that it doesn't really feel like there are any real PEOPLE here aside from Lena. Zan comes across to me as the generic plot device acquaintance to make things happen to the MC.
I'm not saying to focus on a 'plot' specifically because that's a stupid thing to criticize in a slice of life fic, but even in 'cute girls do cute things' shows there's another point of interest other than the MC's theoretical journey, like other characters' shenanigans and/or funny situations. In this case, it's more like... characters... and situations. They bake cakes. There's a vague argument (which will probably be expanded upon later to be fair). They go shopping. They go to the museum. And?
