I like Jessie’s carefree nature, even if it’s a defense mechanism. Your characters are pretty varied so far and I enjoyed their introductions. Reminds me of a group of folks you’d find in Final Fantasy with their different roles and personalities 😆 Dax reminds me of Sweet from Atlantis, if you’ve seen it.

This chapter gave me shades of Starlord stealing the power stone on Morag to “Come and get your love” 😂 in Guardians of the Galaxy. I even put the song on and it fit the vibe. Radio Jam is menace though to those rank and file soldier types 💀 Entertaining first chapter!

I quickly began to grasp what happened at the end of the last chapter as the conversation opened up, and the two leads have a heartwarming connection. If I were to offer up any critique it would be that the exchange between Avery and Dorian got a bit disjointed at times with trying to figure out who was speaking, but that might be a “me” problem since you know my feelings on dialogue tags. In any case, good chapter. 😄

The high-tech vibes you’ve been able to establish are still immaculate so far 🔥 I like taking a bit of a step back to kind of set the scene for the main character after the prologue, it was a nice choice for story pacing. The narration is a strong point, and I’m looking forward to getting into the character dynamics more.
