Big congrats on being the first contest entry to hit 1000 views! This was an interesting opening. Starting with a stalker is a bold choice, especially for a romance novel. It'll be interesting to see what kind of trouble Akari gets herself in, and how she gets out of it. (If you saw my previous comment, ignore it, I had thought because of the last sentence of the chapter that the stalker was the love interest until I read the synopsis lol)

Interesting first chapter, I can see this premise going to good places. Also the opening quip about landlords is genuinely one of the funniest things I've seen on this platform.

Quick question, is Chi's name supposed to be the Japanese 血 or the Greek χ? Or something else entirely? I would guess the first option since they're vampires but it had me wondering, especially as anime characters being named after Greek letters is a very common trope

Tsukishiro means white moon and mikazuki means crescent moon iirc. Wondering if the moon is gonna become a recurring theme in the story. Also curious to hear if there’s symbolism behind their first names (maybe that Hajime is called that because this is the beginning of his career?)

Stuck the landing. Huge congrats.

I’m sincerely impressed how consistent the quality of this story has been. Never was there a stretch where I began to lose interest or stop enjoying it. You should definitely be proud of how it’s turned out.

Considering how much of the story has been about the harsh reality around abolitionism and its ripple effects, I was surprised to see the story wrap up in such a near bow with a clean happy ending. But the groundwork was laid well enough that it didn’t feel unrealistic or unearned.

I’ll put my full thoughts in my review but the tldr is pretty much “great job”

Really nice to see some proper vulnerability from Charlotte. No 15 year old girl could balance the weight of the world on her shoulders and *not* be overwhelmed, after all. Also like the decision to keep Suzuki out of it. Throughout the story he’s felt far more like an uncontrollable force of nature than a character, which is very refreshing compared to the stock-standard of this genre.

I put my thoughts so far in message in the contest novel recs channel of the HF discord if you’d like to hear more of what I have to say about it, though I will write a proper review once the story is marked finished. But in short, I think this is the best story I’ve read this contest and possibly one of the best I’ve read on the whole site. I was worried the unusual framing device would make it run out of steam and be hard to follow, but it’s been the complete opposite, it’s kept my attention far better than any others this contest
