I was a little nervous to give this a read, simply because a story revolving around the word "ugly" can get well...ugly 😂 What I mean to say is, it gets into actually a very sensitive moral and philosophical debate about the concept of beauty -- what does beauty/ugliness mean to people? Who decides what's beautiful? What if people have different tastes? What judgements are "okay" to make vs "not okay"? None of these questions have a single answer, of course, but I'm curious to see how you'll tackle them over the narrative! 😆 With Ravel showing that he's different than his friends, and maybe less hung up on appearance, I have some hope here!!

I'm glad to hear you had a good break, and happy to have you back!! I genuinely missed seeing your story updates. I remember a few days ago I was looking at my notifications and let out a small sigh, thinking "I really miss Nanna and Paltar..." Because reading about their adventures just always has such a good vibe and it makes me smile 😆 💕 I don't know how to describe it. Either way, I'm glad you're back!! Now, onto the chapter~

Oooh an abyss between them and the next area that awaits. Nanna can cross, but Paltar isn't so lucky. The bridge with the threads seems right in tune with his skillset, except he's not able to reach it...which is where Nanna can help 😉 I really like that you gave them a challenge that required both of their skills to resolve!! (Though can you call flying one of Nanna's skills? 🤣 I guess so long as she's a goose, it works! It makes me curious now what skills and hobbies she had when she was human.)

Bamboo is sort of edible 😆 a lot of species aren't edible (just like a lot of mushrooms aren't) but there are *some* breeds of edible bamboo. Usually the part you cook and eat is the shoot, which is basically the root of the plant just as it starts to grow (so you don't eat a fully grown stalk.) Bamboo shoots need to be boiled for awhile to get out any toxins, and shouldn't be eaten raw (similar to cassava or potatoes.) All that said, basically the short of it is: generally don't try to eat wild bamboo 😆 but canned or cooked bamboo is safe and can be really tasty! It's used a lot in Asian dishes.

Ahaha well yes!! My own personal lack of sleep definitely inspired some of this! But in all honesty, none of the characters in my novel are all that close to my own personality. I try not to write author inserts, or anything to close to myself, just out of personal preference 😆 I like writing to escape from my own persona!!

Claire is BACK and Jun is So Happy and things are gonna be good <3 (but of course we gotta introduce new plot stuff to shake things up 😏)

ALSO #BLESS I'm so glad you enjoy my dumb silly sound effects section. Like. I was giggling so much writing that, especially Mia's little confused "Shishi-doink?" with a head tilt. 😤 Precious.

I don't usually use onomatopoeia for the reasons you mentioned (using "boom pow!!" in the middle of a fight scene often does not work as well as hoped 😂) But I really like bringing in a little bit of sound effects. Especially because it's something so unique to Japanese culture and linguistics, like doki doki, kira kira, giri giri, that kind of thing! So since I'm writing an anime inspired LN 🤣 I just cannot resist the opportunity to do stuff like that. Since I can't put it in my normal (more western-styled) writing.
🫶 Claire is back and I'm so glad everyone is happy to see her return 💕 she's truly a character I didn't know how much I missed until she wasn't there these last few chapters!

I like to support authors who haven't had any viewership yet!! So I am giving your story some likes and reading through it :D

I find this impossible city to be an interesting concept, and I'm hoping Nicholas, Abram, and Aisha can survive (but Abram and Aisha have been kidnapped!! Ahh! 😱) And Aurora is a new interesting character! My only advise right now would be to keep at it and keep practicing your writing 😁 things seem to happen a little fast at times! So I would recommend reading other books and seeing how other authors structure their dialogue and events, and practicing that along in your own work! (But I only say this because of your author's comment in chapter 2. If you don't want feedback right now please feel free to disregard!!) I wish you luck and hope you have fun writing 💕

Aw man those first few paragraphs hit hard 😭 is it selfish to relate to the feeling of seeing half fantasy, half reality, but feeling disconnected from both worlds? Maybe that's just the nature of creativity, though?

I like that Ashiya is opening up a bit! "You don't have a chance with Kukai, you know, yah?" 🤣🤣🤣 Oooh Ashiya-san though! She sees through everything, doesn't she? 💕 I'm starting to like her more and more.

"Rakuro IS a normal girl!" Absolute truths right there 😤 I like it!! 👍 Takuro feels a bit guilty for only liking Kukai's appearance, but I think that's a good thing for him to experience.

But Takuro and Ashiya watching a movie together, just the two of them? 😁 I'm seeing this romantic direction!! And I'm so excited for it!

Ozaki's mom seems stern 😤 but understandable. Daughters need a bit more protection! I'm glad she's looking out for Ozaki-chan. (But I also wonder...wouldn't the school tell Ozaki's mom who the tutor was? 🤣)

Oh no the locker bullying :( I hope they can clear that up, and get the bullies to stop. Ozaki-chan already has so much to deal with.

...is it weird that I think I like Kotori and Hitomura together?? 😁 They didn't even really talk much, but I realized they both care about Yuta, and they might have a chance!!
