Made it all the way through the (sometimes) heinous spelling and what not (xD) so I feel like I should leave a few words.
First regardling your author's note: That is just so relatable man... you're juggling uni with writing and RL, for me it's a full-time job with changing shifts and all that bullcrap. I feel that, and the frame set by the contest does not always bolster creativity but instead can feel more like chains slowly tightening around you the closer the deadline and the upper word limit approach.
And now a review up to this point of the tale you've created:
I could talk about many things but honestly I'll just keep it brief and concise. I love the idea behind the story and you've executed the awkward blend of ancient english and modern British slang splendidly throughout the story while also spinning an exciting plot with authentic and relatable characters around that premise. Truth be told, the romance isn't dominant which could spell doom if one of the judges were to criticise that, but just looking at story so far without taking the contest into account, I quite frankly enjoyed reading everything you wrote so far, and I do want to encourage you to finish your tale (and not let your story rot like I did with my 2023 contest entry 😶)
