This time, it's a Gothic chess game, meaning the board is 10x8 and the empress, also know as the chancellor, which moves like a knight and rook, and the princess, also known as the archbishop, which moves like a knight and bishop, are now part of the game. Gothic chess is a chess variant that improves upon Capablanca chess by rearranging the starting pieces in order to make things more fair.

I have no idea if there's an analysis engine for Gothic chess, but here's the game anyway.

Here's the game between Okisato and Red Reaper from Chapter 171, which features a brand new opening I dub the Baron Buster Gambit. I guess technically it features 2 new openings as 1. a3 d5 2. e4 dxe4 is the Anderssen Opening: Prussian Gambit, while 1. a3 d5 2. e4 dxe4 3. Ke2 is the Prussian Gambit Accepted: Baron Buster Gambit. The Anderssen Opening hasn't really been studied as much as other openings, so there's barely any named variations stemming from it. I hope to change that and since the main character of this series shares his birthday with the man the Anderssen Opening is named after, Adolf Anderssen, expect more crazy Anderssen Opening variations in future games.

Funnily enough, this game was played against the 2900-rated level 24 engine bot on Chess.com, with assisted mode on of course. I was genuinely surprised at how quickly the bot fell, which is why I decided to use this match in the chapter. Okisato's rating has also increased thanks to him beating both Red Reaper and all the SPCMs in China.

Here's the game between Okisato and Bao from Chapter 160. It's the first Chess 960 game to grace the series. Hard to believe it's taken about 100 games to get one, but here it is.

For those who don't know, Chess 960 or Fischer random chess, is a famous chess variant invented by 11th world chess champion and American grandmaster, Bobby Fischer. In it, the starting position of all the pieces, except for pawns, are randomized. The two opposing armies will always mirror each other though and the two bishops will always be on opposite colors. Each side also has the ability to castle as well. As for why it's called "Chess 960", the reason for that is because there are 960 different possible starting positions. Chess 960 is also one of the few variants to be officially recognized by FIDE and have specific tournaments for it.
