I was getting a tad worried we'd be spending all the time in the onsen, so like Crys Meer, I was happy to see the twist at the end. The tension and suspense are what draw me to this series.

Well, that's sure a way to end it. Went back to reread the previous chapter and saw all the comments hinting at this type of ending, but even then, this ending felt kind of empty. Like it feels a bit too ambiguous. Is the shepherd actually the Kowhao? What exactly happened in the battle? I get open-endedness allows for more flexibility in the event of a continuation, but naturally, when you get attached to characters, you want to see how their story ends, good or bad. That being said, I respect that you're willing to go for an ending like this even though it might not be the most beloved by readers. Or who knows, maybe the others will like it a lot. Congratulations on finishing this.

Again, it's really hard to visualize these games when there isn't much to go off of aside from vague descriptions. What exactly did Sora play in the middle game?

I like that you properly explained how to counter the Wayward Queen with 3... g6, however, as I stated in my previous comment, 4... Nf6 is the best response to 4. Qf3. You CAN play 4... Qe7, but it's not the best move and offers no advantage to Black unlike 4... Nf6.

OK, I'm a little lost here. The Scholar's Mate goes 1. e4 e5 2. Qh5 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Qxf7#. If White plays 2. Qh5, Nc6 is the best response. Should they then go 3. Bc4, the proper response is simply g6. How can neglecting to defend with the knight or opening up a square for the bishop defend against it? Now if you're talking about White's best response to g6, 4. Qf3, ten yes, Nf6 is the best move. But you need to play g6 first.

As a fellow chess writer, I naturally had to check this out. While I like the concept, I do think you should have documented the moves of the game, even though it's just 4 moves. It's hard to appreciate a game when you can't follow along with it due to lack of provided moves.
