Author's Commentary #25:
Time to talk about Chapter 25: Mimoko's debut match.
Tis chapter is the first of the new chapters to be added into Season 1. Originally, Rounds 1 and 2 of the Knigtlife classic were skipped over, but I felt the matches needed to be showcased to better highlight Mimoko's and Okisato's prowess before their respective marquee matches of the season. What also brought this change about was the fact that thanks to Season 7, the series now has well over 500 characters from which I can draw from to have debut earlier in the story. As such, let's discuss those two characters now.
ヒューバート・ノイマン (Hubert Neuman) is how Hubert's name is spelled in katakana.
His birthday is June 20th, which he shares with American grandmaster, Hans Nieman.
His favorite piece is the pawn.
ゴラナ・ペトロヴィッチ (Gorana Petrović) is how Gorana's name would be spelled in katakana. Горана Петровић (Gorana Petrović) is how it would be spelled in Serbian (Cyrillic).
Her birthday is May 26th, which she shares with Serbian international master, Teodora Injac.
Her favorite piece is the rook, since it's built like a mountain.
Gorana is currently the highest rated female chess player in Serbia. She enjoys the outdoors and hiking in the mountains and also has a strong moral compass, and will refuse to remain silent on things she deems to be wrong and/or an injustice.
As for the game, it features the infamous London System, a strong opening used at all levels that is either loved or hated. It originally debuted in Season 4, but with the chance to add new games to Season 1, I decided that Mimoko's would include the London, since it actually is one of her most preferred openings as White. Getting back to the game itself, I was really pleased with how it turned out as it was exciting from start to finish, and filled, what I believed, to be the missing piece of excitement, Season 1 was lacking.
There are three more new games that will debut in this season thanks to the revisions. For this next game, all I'll say is that it will feature my favorite opening of all time. I hope you're looking forward to said opening's new and earlier debut in the series.
That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
