Author's Commentary #341:
Time to talk about Chapter 341: The cooked maestro.
The season has now officially reached 100 chapters, and it isn't even halfway done yet. Daria also destroyed Xiao Lin, but it appeared as though she wished to humiliate her further as evidenced by the fact that she deliberately avoided mating her when presented with the opportunity to do so. Whatever it was though, Xiao Lin clearly felt it was worse than resigning, which is why she sucked up her pride and resigned. Now let's do Evan's bio.
エヴァン・モス (Evan Moss) is how Evan's name would be written in katakana.
His birthday is December 30th, which he shares with Canadian grandmaster, Aman Hambleton.
His favorite piece is the king because he considers it his "bro".
Eric's inclusion in this chapter is actually very deliberate. I won't elaborate much further than that, other than stating he is the one clue I'll give as to what Daria was planning to do to Xiao Lin.
Speaking of which, I'm deliberately choosing not to showcase how the game would have played out if Xiao Lin didn't resign. This means readers will have to figure out what Daria might have planned on their own, as it will be a while before it's revealed in the story. But when that moment does happen, I will post the full version of how this game could have gone if Xiao Lin played on.
And now, Japan has won the match, but the question remains if Mimoko can continue the perfect victory streak for the team. But before that's decided, it's back to the men's side for the conclusion between Okisato and Miralem.
And the gambit Okisato will be playing is the John Tracy gambit. I'll have more to talk about the game in the next commentary, but props to all who correctly guessed this before it was revealed in this chapter.
That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
