    Author's Commentary #1:

Welcome to Mystery ghost foresight [Remake]. Unlike my other novels, my author commentaries are going to work a bit differently. Rather than commenting on every chapter, I'll typically be commenting at the start and end of each arc.

Speaking of other series, if you've read my commentaries, particularly some from Spice of Life [Remake], you'll have seen me constantly talk about how Mystery ghost foresight needed a remake. Well finally it's here.

First off, Mystery ghost foresight [Remake] is part of the Jouzu-verse, and takes place before Spice of Life [Remake], Escape:Witch [Remake], and En Passant Grandmaster just to name a few. The Shiruka Collection serves as a prequel to this, but it is not necessary to read beforehand. Speaking of which, that segways into my next topic, changes between this and the original.

Back when I first wrote the original Mystery ghost foresight, I intended for it to be a direct continuation of Shiruka's story from The Yowie Hunt, and as such, the prologue of that novel focused on Shiruka waking up as a ghost. Here, I decided to just include a revised retelling of Shiruka's murder, mainly just for this story.

Though if you've already read The Shiruka collection or The Yowie Hunt, then you probably know the truth behind Shiruka's murder. On a quick note, The Shiruka Collection serves as a director's cut compilation work of all the Shiruka short stories and Yowie Hunt seasons and the versions of those stories included in it are considered the cannon versions of their original counterparts.

One final thing I'll mention is that a good chunk of the arcs from the original Mystery ghost foresight will be revised a bit for the remake, but they won't all be exactly the same as their original counterparts, so the original won't be able to spoil everything perfectly. This also means the remake, like all other [Remake] versions of my stories is the new cannon story-line for this series.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

    Author's Commentary #204:

Time to talk about Chapter 204: Duck, duck, chess.
The first part of the national team qualifier has concluded, with only baby Yumi not making it through, though that was mainly due to her losing to Daria in the final round. She's still got a chance to become a grandmaster before her 1st birthday though.

As for the game, I've had my eye on featuring a Duck chess game for a while. Duck chess is a chess variant invented by Dr. Tim Paulden back in 2016. In it, players are required to move a blocker in the shape of a rubber duck following their initial move. The duck can't be captured or passed through, which leads to interesting twists and turns, and even possible triple checks. As such, the only way to win is to capture the king. This also means the king isn't forced to move if it's in check, but not doing so generally leads to a loss.

What tempted me to finally feature a duck chess match now was Chess.com's recent Duck chess championship tournament. The "tournament" Carol mentions in this chapter could be seen as a homage to it.

One final thing worth mentioning is that after 200 chapters, I finally explained all the titles chess players can earn. With the exception of Maestro, all the titles are the same as their real world counterpart, with WWCF Master, WM acting as this universe's equivalent of FIDE Master, FM. Maestro is the only title official to the story, but who knows. Maybe if this series gets an anime, the title will become a thing.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

To be honest, I kind of just based it off the money you always seem to get from winning Pokemon battles along with private points from Classroom of the elite, and never really thought of it much.

That being said, you wouldn't really get a lot of money just by winning any old game. Rather, you'd need to win big games or tournaments. IRL chess tournaments typically have cash prize pools, which is also true for tournaments in this world. And while it is true that players won't lose money for losing, that's only if they also survive. For example, Cypress' finances ended up being dolled out to Iori as he was killed following his loss. Same thing for Inojin. Players can also lose money if money is included as part of a wager. This isn't restricted simply to DESPER matches though, as any ordinary match could choose to implement a monetary prize/penalty via their WWCF cards.

Though it is worth mentioning that players typically will want to save up their WWCF points rather than exchange it for real-world money both due to the conversion rate, and the fact that there are some things you can only use WWCF points for. Okisato is also not letting on how much money he truly exchanges his points for, as he's primarily just listing off the card's main features. Though he does tend to convert most of the winnings he gets from beating Desperados, resulting in him having a respectable amount of real-world currency on his hands.

    Author's Commentary #203:

Time to talk about Chapter 203: Deliberation.
This turned out to be more of a set-up chapter mainly due to me still trying to pin down how exactly I want this arc to go. To be honest, Season 6 is starting to feel more like a Side Story, but it is a prelude to a major arc which is why I decided to designate it as a season. It is clear though, that characters are being built up, mainly in regards to the qualification for the Chess Olympics. Speaking of which, I guess I'll talk a bit about the character that was introduced last chapter, Mahi Makihara.

牧原 舞妃 (Makihara Mahi) is how her name would be written in kanji. 舞妃 means "dance" and "empress".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations, feel free to correct me).

Her birthday is June 18th which is international sushi day.

Her favorite piece is the queen.
Mahi originates from Spice of Life and is Itsuki's mother. She is an elite chef, however, she resented her husband for limiting her ability to improve her cooking and rise to the top of the gourmet world, leading to her eventually killing him when he was in Texas. This resulted in Mahi's incarceration, however, her sentence was eventually repealed once Pewler briefly became president. Pardoning her sentence was actually the only thing he really did as president as he did that immediately after being sworn in and before being forced into the match with Iori. As for why he made pardoning Mahi such a high priority, that will remain a mystery for now, but it will eventually be revealed in the story.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
