Author's Commentary #231:
Time to talk about the finale of Side Story 5, Chapter 231: Safumi's second chance.
I'll start by stating that originally, I had far more ambitious and emotional plans for Safumi's character. But as time went on, I feel those ambitions fizzled out. A large part of it is due to me relegating Zago and Azenira's roles in the story. In fact, Zago's interaction with Safumi in the original draft of Season 4 is written out in the revision.
Another reason I feel this Side Story is so short, is simply because I was rushing to bring closure to Safumi's character after putting it off for so long. To be fair, back when I first had my ambitious plans for what I wanted to do with Safumi's character, I was just finishing up writing Season 3. Now 6 seasons and 4 Side Stories have taken place, not to mention there's other Side Stories I want to get to. I did feel though that Safumi needed her closure, and while it's far from the original vision I had for her character, I'm at least satisfied with what I've written for her.
While it could be considered spoiler territory, I will reveal that for what will likely be Side Story 7, I needed Safumi's and Doraaki's Side Stories to take place before it. I'm sure with this bit of info combined with what happened in the Side Story, you can form a theory on what the big Side Story will be about.
Speaking of which, the next Side Story will focus on Doraaki. However, I feel it's more accurate to say it's more of a Daria Side Story. It will be longer and darker than this one, but it will also feature some really epic games and milf action, so look forward to it.
