I actually used Danmachi as the basis for first person when I started writing this (this was my first attempt at writing fiction).
And yes, I kind of wanted to roll with the idea of a strange, questionable stat that people normally didn't care about and see how things would progress. LNs had already focused on other stats like defense for BOFURI, so I picked critical since it's so ambiguious.
