Halfway through this chapter, I thought to myself, "I bet this author likes Pynchon".
Imagine how I felt when I scrolled down to this comment section 😂
What gave it away for me, was the use of "sez".
I like the way you play with the formatting. (ie. HFS)

Going to read the rest of this but stopping to say this is genuinely one of the well-crafted first chapters I think I've ever read. The pacing, and balance between dialogue and prose is masterful. You also got me chuckling at almost every line. On to the next chapter!

Intriguing setup, makes me want to read more. I like the small glimpses into Stella's past of a very different world, and what her duty was back then. Her being so fixated on wastefulness and resources is cute. Looking foward to more!
