I wonder what makes Cael keeping on this internal struggle of him and not accepting at least in his mind his feelings for Val, which are almost obvious at this point. Doubt it is just him being gentleman and/or shy of women in general. I feel like there has to be something more behind it. Also unexpected ending, seems to me that his mana somehow resonated with the stone in a strange and unpredictable way.

Side note: Cael thinking about how he'll have no time in winter to farm outside to distract his mind from thinking about Val strangely reminded me of the scene from the movie "The Taming of the Scoundrel", where the character of Celentano was chopping wood just to... ehm... repress certain thoghts about a woman through physical labour 😅

The last line of this chapter was so true and deep. When you wake up from a nightmare, you often feel relieved, even when in need of comforting. When you wake up from a good dream, you feel regret and wish to escape back to that dreamworld - it is better than a real one anyway.

I love the cooking scene, good think I just had my dinner before continuing reading :) I wonder if Val never learned the shame (like Steward suggested below in the comments) or she did, but cultural norms are too different in this world (like, for example, verbal expression of feelings in a way other than just speaking with your normal voice would be inappropriate). Though they cried together just last chapter, which kinda involves your voice too... 🤔 Anyway, I am just speculating at this point, nevermind 😅

Just realised that existing in a world like Val's (full absense of any communication with people) would literally drive me crazy. I think you didn't mean it to be terrifying, but the concept of all people just disappearing sounds to me like a twist straight from a horror book/film.

Great chapter! I knew we should get some action at some point, the previous chapters were almost too much peaceful :) But I like how this resolved, this shared combat experience and being endangered together has to make their bond grow stronger for sure.

Side note: the spell naming system reminds me of a one from Persona games (like "vas" - a moderate wind magic attacking spell, "ventosvas" - a powerful one; compared to "garu" and "garudyne" in Persona :)

What a cliffhanger :) I wonder now, how is it with Cael's having (?) mana. Assuming he is from Earth, he shouldn't have one. Or maybe we all have our mana sealed until being summoned to another world. Too many questions for now, so I'll just read further :)

A very relaxing chapter! :) But I think Cael should be already aware of chickens and cows and what and how they produce, assuming the animals are the same in both worlds. But maybe he is just a bit unsure because of never interacting with them directly :)
