wow, this feels really different from the other stories of yours that I've read so far, but maybe that's bcs it's in first person.
I like the atmosphere you set here, the protag already feels like someone with a lot of issues. perfect stage for some horror lol

Loved that cameo of Aeneas and Dido, you did this rlly incredible well. But seeing them stuck there, living through their sorrows and regrets among the other 'great' personalities of roman history made me kinda sad.

I liked the discussion that ignited through that between pompanianus and pliny tho.

Especially when Pliny used Nero to prove his point lol.

So what is it that keeps them all there? Is it really just themselves who refuse to move on?

It’s nice to see what an experienced and capable sailor Pliny actually was. It’s actually a good explanation for readers who might not know much about him, bcs it shows why he is so skilled and knowledgeable about all that maritime stuff when teaching the elves

Great idea to use these chapters as short introductions to each book!
First, it’s very nice to get a small overview of what to expect in the arc. 2ndly, it’s really fitting for Pliny’s character to have such thoughts, I mean, he is a philosopher after all! :3

Oh damn, so it’s already over?
Yeah, I can see that a few more chapters would have been nice, but overall I really enjoyed this story.

It really felt like reading sth by Philip K. Dick in the best way possible (we got our 'everyday Joe mcs' instead of epic heroes, struggling with creepy technology, strange shifts in reality, and a very blurry line between human and artificial consciousness)

But what really elevates this story, in contrast to Dick, is the subtle humor in every chapter, which makes you chuckle even in suspenseful scenes without ever turning it into slapstick.

So Subaru sacrificed himself. Shame, I liked him. But Agron intervening at the last second and saving Anh and Kente was good timing for him to reappear. It was the right decision to introduce him in chapter 20 already. that way, this scene works much better I think

"I need about three fiddy!" Is Mark scottish perhaps and has only blurred pictures of him? xD

Anyway, this chapter was pretty fucked up and slowly crosses the line toward body horror, but the suspense is incredible. I didn’t quite get the dancing part tho.
Missy is still broken, right? I hope she can reboot and save their asses, smh.
