Wow, what a journey!
I finally finished reading, and now I’m kind of sad that it’s over 😢(though I still have to read the bonus chapter, and I definitely will!)
With the aftermath of the battle and all the revelations in chapters 28 and 29, I was really curious how you’d choose to end this volume.
And once again, you absolutely nailed it! 🥹
In chapter 30, you did such an amazing job portraying Kade’s inner conflict, especially his struggle between his old life, his new family, and the fact that he finally has clarity about his flame/magic.
The fact that it’s Galir, of all people, who ends up encouraging him, and revealing that he’s known all along that Kade came from another world, but that it doesn’t matter to him, is just so incredibly well written!
When Kade finally smiles again, and the little comedy-relief moment with Ayen follows right after, it really lightens the mood and warms the reader’s heart after all that tension. <3
And then you build the hype back up so perfectly by teasing “the Calling”, that’s pure cinema! It already makes me super excited for the next volume!
Still, Kade’s newfound hope and “rebirth,” together with his restored confidence and playful nature, stay front and center, and it’s so good.
About the Epilogue:
What a great glimpse ahead!
You immediately set up the key foundations for the next arc, and that eerie “Other” corpse moment had just the right amount of unease.
Of course, Kade being the only one to show compassion for the creature, that’s just so typically him, and exactly the reaction you’d expect from his character 😆
It really makes me wonder if he might try to find a peaceful path later on when it comes to dealing with the “Others”... 🤔
Then there’s the tense atmosphere among the participants, with Adar as a rival, and the overall setup for the “Selection”... that’s exactly how a volume should end.
You managed to not only answer a lot of open questions and push Kade’s personal development forward, but also wrap up the volume in a satisfying way while making readers eager for what’s to come, without it feeling abrupt.
