I think the problem is that the “fame” here is very local and doesn’t really extend beyond their niche, as the prompt required…

but I honestly had no idea how to make that more “global” in a historical setting.

In any case, my hopes for the contest are more with Nekotokyo anyway, so I’ll leave the romance category to you, you deserve it! :3

I hadn’t really noticed it before, but now that you mention it, this is actually the only story of mine that consists of just one single, fast-paced main plot (not counting short stories)...

Tbh, if I hadn’t been on vacation and had the whole day to write, I probably wouldn’t have managed to finish it in time

Work (or school in your case) is probably the biggest enemy of us authors, I think xD

Even though Shu-Fen’s love story didn’t really have a proper happy ending, I at least wanted her granddaughter to find her own path through her story (I don’t think I’m capable of writing pure tragedy anyway lol)

The fact that you liked the story so much and even felt like it was a good movie means a lot to me

So you didn’t feel like the ending was rushed? I was actually worried that not showing Shu-Fen’s death and speeding things up toward the end might be a major weakness of the story...

Was there anything where you felt I could’ve gone into more detail or taken a bit more time? That way I’ll know what I might be able to adjust after the contest!

You know, when I started writing this more “mature” romance, I was actually pretty unsure if I’d be able to convey the emotions the way I wanted to...
I was aiming for something really subtle, not too cheesy, no big dramatic outbursts, just quiet gestures and unspoken closeness.

But tbh, I was worried that readers might not feel enough empathy for the characters because of that...

But thanks to your amazing and heartfelt comment, though, I know now that it worked!
