Heys there! I see you're all fired up. It's great to see this! 😂
But let's see if I can make you cry. It is supposed to be a wholesome story after all (maybe tears of joy? 😂)
A very deep research was actually not necessary. Saying this definitely sounds like I am just checking one of my passions after the other, but I've been interested in film making and movies even longer than I am in programming. What I did not explore as thoroughly were arthouse movies, but that is one thing I always wanted to do and already involved myself deeper into the last few weeks.
So, you're pulling your information about love interests from the cover ... worked out fine last year after all, didn't it? 😏 And I'm really happy you guys like the cover! It was a lot of work, but payed off, I think. I tried to convey a cinematic vibe and even researched lens and analog film imperfections like bloom, chomatic aberration and halation effects to add them to the final image. 😁
And yes, Your Lie in April was the model work from the Discord I pulled the most inspiration from (I really LOVED the story), so I am very happy this shines through! 😊

Haha, Ichika as Lilia-chan and Haruhi as Pingin. It would be so great if they even win the competition! I'm sure there is no need for Ichika to be shy. As Haruhi already said: She surely looks great in the costume. But well, if she does not feel good wearing it, then maybe Haruhi should not force her into that next time 😅
And maybe I'm mistaking, but aren't at least a few parts of the competition held on a stage so all people can look at the cosplays? 😅 That would then actually defy Haruhi's argumentation and put them in a complicated situation, which gets even more complicated if his friends recognize him ... I mean being an Otaku is one thing, but being an Otaku, who is couple-cosplaying with a cute girl is the next level ... 😂
Ahhh, I think I slowly fear that the inevitable is nearing 😂😂

But it’s great to see Yume again! She definitely has some small sister vibes to her … even though I’m not entirely sure if she somehow has a slight crush on Eiji … we‘ll see it maybe through how she reacts to Naomi. But I would think that the two of them would generally get along quite well 😊

Yeah, I see still some room for improvement there from Honeyfeed ... I mean you can even Like the images, but well ... 😅
And I can relate to the time argument you mentioned ... I have long workdays and studies in the evening + weekends + assignments, so I really do 😅
I think the time of just an hour is really impressive for that! Working time efficient is key there, so it's only logical to cut expenses in the coloring stage. I envy you a slight bit for that 😂 My perfectionism makes me create things only if I am able to push myself across the border of what I was able to or not at all (My cover for this year's entry for example took me about 12 hours all in all 🙈).
But I'm really glad this works for you! The most important thing is that you are happy with the process of creating it + the outcome and you have all reasons to! 😊

Even though he justifies it through telling that he only plays her boyfriend, he actually gave her the plushie and that is what counts! 😁 He has the victory and she has the plushie: Sounds fair to me 😂
Maybe Ichika might even find a way to return this favor to him 😉

Also, regarding the Fanart (Don’t know if minatika even reads this … but there is hardly another place where to put this 😅): I really like the way everything just scatters from Haruhi as he falls down 😂
You chose a great, dynamic framing and a nice perspective! Really unique approach, so keep doing what you do! You have really good ideas!
Only point of suggestion: be more bold with the light values of the shading (I don’t know your full workflow but by what it looks like, I assume the lineart is scanned and then colored digitally). Even if you aim for a more shoujou-esque pastel-like look, you can also use lightness and darkness to make the image read easier and help the viewer identify important aspects faster and not have all areas of the whole image of equal importance 😁👍

Hmm ... the evidence is getting stronger. Now we have the first "real" letter from the secret admirer. But since Sato got ducted up to not spoil the story (he definitely has read beforehand), I try to evade the same thing and just say: Even though I still have my doubts about the details, I'm quite certain I already know who is the author of the letter and the couple in question is ... 🤔

And just as a funfact: It is actually quite easy to break free from duct tape over the mouth: The skin fat + the rather smooth surface of the face is often enough to loosen the stickiness enough to simply open your mouth and talk. Things might get tougher and more painful with a beard, but I assume that Sato does not have one yet. That just as a little trivia on the side! 🤯😁 (And don't ask questions, why I know this 😶‍🌫️)
