"Human testing going wrong?" "Murders of hundreds of cyborgs?" No red flags here. 😅 Can't wait to what the "engineer/technician" offers her for the job. BTW, we don't know his name yet, do we? Or did I miss something?
It's been a while since I've seen someone mention "directed energy" weapons in a story, which I appreciate. 👍👍It sounds a lot more realistic than "blaster" or "laser gun." (BTW, a "stock" Glock-19 doesn't have a safety or an external hammer to cock; maybe the rookie cop had a custom job?). Awesome book cover too! 👍👍

Thanks! Yeah, the cover features one of the novel's characters, Rio Akayama. Although she's lost the use of her legs, she can get around really well in a floating hover-chair. You can expect to see more of her in the next chapter, too!
Actually, it's "Peterson" but I can see how just one misplaced letter could make it "Paterson." Hmm, maybe I missed a good marketing ploy by not naming him "Paterson." 🤔🤔 Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it! 👍👍😀

I thought that was an intriguing explanation of different cyborg body types. I'm wondering now what the difference is between an "orange" and a "blue" type. 🤔 And as if the blackmail isn't enough, that quote by Pyro ("Pathetic humans and their even more pathetic bodies") really sets the tone. Classic cyberpunk! 👍👍

And there's a lot of backstory for Aiko's character, too, and a ton of unanswered questions, such as: Why is a panther following her like a domesticated cat? Why is she carrying a sword and dressed like a ninja? And why did she volunteer to become a Challenger crewmember if she's afraid to fly? I hope to answer some of these questions as the story progresses. You'll definitely be seeing more of Aiko and Tama later on...😁🐈

Since he's a little cocky (arrogant? overly confident?) someone has to keep him in line. 😁 I'm hoping to introduce some character growth as well, but hey, we're not even two weeks into the contest, so there will be plenty of time for that. I think these prologues are the equivalent of a "teaser trailer" in Hollywood. Yours convinced me to see what's next. I'm looking forward to the next chapter!😀
