I have to admit I wasn't expecting that ending. I suppose becoming a hunter seeking revenge for her companions is the most logical after all. Though I really thought Sprout would eventually find some kind of peace with her genoid mother and her new friends. But it is what is... She never stops questioning herself and what she is. Finally, after rooting for being considered as a human, she accepts seeing herself as a nekomimi. Though not entirely giving up on that human part of hers. She keeps changing. Part of me is aware that's for the best and that the conclusion is the most logical, 'philosophically' speaking. Same as the 'people are not all black, they are not all white, they are a blend of both' thing.... But another part me wished that Sprout would show full determination until the end to her "I am human" feeling, and that she would try hard to find her place among them.
As for the characters, my favourite one was Aiko. Call me biased bec' we saw almost nothing of her. But ( the party episode aside ) she had that gentle-cute-great-friend vibe and I thought she had the potential to help Sprout heal her wounds. Oliver da best boy. His death and Apollo's pissed me off. Maybe Apollo's even slightly more because off the holy cursed I-pretend-I-betray-you-to-save-you which gave a pang in the heart. As for Lea... I don't really like her, but her last words were moving, it was a particularly emotional moment.
Idk if I have any constructive suggestions... Maybe for the last part of your story. I feel like the adoption of Sprout by the genoid is unexploited. After all, that was a truly unlikely situation. So seeing, even for a scene or two, how they interact at home may have been interesting. That may have lead to some awkward situations of the genoid attempting to behave ( too much ) as a mother or something.
Anyway, that was a pleasant read!
