Just to be clear, I don't think you intended the catgirl racism bit and it didn't come across that way to me (and unfortunately, coding will always happen to some degree so at some point we as authors gotta compromise), but it's something I thought about/realized while reading.
Now that I read this, Marina and, catmage fic, something I've found in common is that there's some things I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed them out. I'm a subtext enjoyer, but perhaps it's a bit TOO subtle... or it might just be different approaches (since it seemed to me like you have the opposite issue with my catgirl nuke fic. I like to be drip fed the same thing 20 times). Not sure what other people have said about that, if anything. I feel like your characters are very good and complex as concepts, but once they're on the story they kind of just fulfill their role and that's it.
If you post a sequel, I'm definitely reading. There's still a long way to go for Sprout, and I'd like to see her get 'redeemed'. Vinland Saga is one of my favorite mangas and I despised Thorfinn at first (who is now one of my favorite mcs of anything), so.
