This is beautiful so far. 👏 I have always wondered why invaders feel the need to destroy such beautiful architecture, but if this was an uprising, they likely don’t see it that way. In their mind, they’re erasing any trace of the oppressors.

This was a sobering start to the story, seeing that defeatism has gripped humanity, but I don’t blame them for the lack of hope. If it were me though, I would try to remind myself that the end was always coming for everyone, and we’ve never felt utterly hopeless before, so why start now?

What a delightful, albeit short, story. Or maybe I’m just used to absolute chonkers lol. Nice job on this one, Taylor. 👏 I think it sets up future story arcs pretty well, with Sadie and Yuri’s brother still recovering and the assassin still out there somewhere, her origins unexplained thus far. After the flashback scene with the doctor, I’m starting to get an idea of what might be plaguing Aaron, however.

Vanessa was a fun protagonist, and I loved her disposition and attitude in the midst of the apocalypse. She was a realist and a little crass, but she has a kind heart at the end of day and that’s what draws people to her.

I’m glad I could read this one, and best of luck in the contest!
