And with that, Stratos is safe from the evil machinations of a corrupt mayor! (I am shocked that I spelled machinations correctly on my first try!😎) This story felt freeing in a way. the kind of freedom you'd assume a bird would have, or perhaps the feeling you'd get in a dream while taking to the skies in some windy city. The excitement of that, coupled with a crew of distinct people with the goal to deliver packages, really made it a fun read!
As for the characters : I have to start with Arwain, (What a cool name he has) seeing as he really was the us on his wings through this whole journey. I truly felt that his tragic past and his promising future making him extremely compelling. It reminds me that even if I'm not feeling it that day, a duty is a duty, especially when lives are at stake. whenever he had a flashback, I could feel the regret and brooding it would cause him. But he took that regret and made it his strength.
Now lets talk about the real MVP, Dingleberry. Seriously, where would the crew be without his family sending them up loads of food every week? Like, honestly. that's a lot of free goodies to enjoy!
Also, I mentioned this before in a comment, but I really liked how each of the different crewmembers had their own spotlight when it came to fame. It gave them all a little boost in the personality depart that I apricated, as well as differentiated them.
Oh, and I knew the mayor was evil from the start! (I think lol) I never trusted him! Well, it really kicked off when he wanted Arwain to be the hero of the city.
As for the setting : The whole time I could very vividly picture the city of Stratos in my head. The clouds around each building, the people scattering the skies around like birds, it just seemed so alive and easy to understand. I might have seen a movie in a similar setting, so that might have helped my imagination. anyways, I thought it was an awesome place for the story to take place.
As for the story : There was always an ever looming sense of dreed whenever a bomb would be discovered, especially since I knew it was only going to worsen the tension between flyers and no flyers. It was certainly an unavoidable intolerance, but those events accelerated the issue. I had a feeling early on the mayor was involved, and it became more obvious after the special treatment he was giving to Arwain, but I wasn't fully sure to what extent. I'm just glad it all worked out in the end! It's funny to think that a bunch of delivery people took the helm of getting rid of those bombs lol
Overall, this was a good read! Lots of tension and even some really thought provoking moments. I don't know if it was intended, but it definitely rejuvenated my sense of duty in a way. Like, even if I'm mad at someone, I should make sure to help them so they won't get hurt.
Thanks for story! 😁
