Nah, as I said, I have no problem with the writing itself. The action start is a decision you made, which is valid.

Was mainly questioning if you had a reason for the twenty years without oil.
If you don't, no problem, suspension of disbelief.

If it was based on some real world lore, I'd just love to hear it, since I was of the impression that our whole civilization right now runs on oil and short time storage, which would blow up in our face in such a scenario.
