No real complains about the writing, its pretty action packed. But since things go down the drain from the start, it is kind of hard to care about any of the characters at this point.
What's stranger to me is that it's said in the second half to be twenty years since the oil fields ran dry, yet society seems... not okay, but still functioning.
Thing is that most of agriculture and the global supply lines depend on oil/fuel. Of course, I am not well informed on the topic, but if I had to make an educated guess, I'd expect such a downfall of society szenario within a couple of month... years at most, not decades.
Then again, there is suspension of disbelief.
