Hehe~ I read that in-character as both Takurō and Ashiya-san being embarrassed about their not-date 😁💕
Getting the feedback of "It was great!!" feels like...the person really didn't read my writing. Or maybe they weren't paying attention. It seems like they would at least be able to say something like "I really loved that fight scene towards the end of the novel! That was so intense? And the main character's struggle? Amazing!" instead of just "Yeah I liked it." Because the general reply makes it feel like they either didn't read it, or didn't connect.
I feel like, as a writer, I will continue to improve throughout my life. I've never written "my best novel" because I hope my next one will be even better!!
For me, writing is a lifelong journey. I know my writing isn't perfect...and I honestly hope it never becomes perfect 🤣 because if I having nothing left to learn, that would make me so sad!
Oh gosh. I am both glad/scared for Donut-dono's final review ・▽・ treat my story kindly haha!! But yes, I will always accept the feedback as room to grow
and, in part, as a testament to the fact that you truly read my work, and want me to become a better writer. (I will try to do the same for your story, if you would like!)
One of my art professors once said an assignment I turned in was "too perfect."
He said "Where's minatika in this? Where are you?" and I told him that "I'm not in this piece. I made this to fulfill the client's wishes."
Which was true in that case. The assignment was to make a design for a client, so I didn't put 'me' into the work (which I still believe is a totally acceptable approach.)
But my professor turned to me and said "I would grade your work higher if you left a coffee stain on it." Which at the time, I thought was absolutely ridiculous 🤣 I mean, usually turning in art homework with a coffee stain would be terrible!! So I still think my professor was wrong about it as a homework assignment.
But I see now what he meant in the bigger scheme of things. Sometimes, flawless work leaves out the "author." Sometimes, a few coffee stains can make a piece beautiful!
(And yes, I love to leave long comments 🤣 if only I had more time!!! I'd reply more often!)
