Saya seems down :( and then she gets upset at Mika. She's yelling at him for not having emotions but...that's kind of like yelling at a person in a wheelchair for not being able to walk 😭 It's not Mika's fault he has a physical brain problem.

Well okay the pomegranate part was a joke 🤣 mostly because the myth is not specific on the type of food Izanami ate, and some retellings say it was a type of berry. So it is just very similar to Persephone.

But Amaterasu really was born during the bath.

As usual, your fight scenes are top notch. The pacing is impeccable, and the description of the movements and attacks allows me to follow along and have a sense of space, so I can visualize how everything is happening. Really, I've read so many fight scenes that are just "I attacked, and then he dodged" level of basic description, that reading yours is just a treat!!! 😍

And Layn running forward instead of nervously dodging back? He's growing!!! It still led to a hit for him, but still. Charging in isn't something just anyone can do.

Also a dozen of table knives to the monster's throat, and then that slash -- oooh is Layn getting a taste for battle? Because that was brutal 😉

Lucia at his backside and all the training paying off! One more to fight!!

(Okay not yet! 🤣 It's a photography session!!)

Ashiya read his screenplay?! 🤩 And no scathing review?? ❤️❤️❤️ That's actually so sweet of her, and she read it so quickly and gave honest feedback. Help, I'm falling in love with Ashiya now myself 😂

(I say this because when I meet people IRL and tell them I am a writer, they always act so interested in my writing. And then I actually send them a copy of one of my early books that is very short....and none of them ever read it 🤦 ever. I have since learned not to do that 😆 and that people like Ashiya are rare!!)

Ahh she learned film photography from her grandfather, and inherited his camera. And also found a love for imperfections in her art as a way of conveying her emotions, maybe even her grief.

Though I believe both imperfections and flawless works have their place, I see what Ashiya is trying to say about Takurō's works! Maybe he isn't really putting his own voice into his writing, and it causes the writing to turn out...perfectly acceptable, but not unique? Hopefully I am conveying what I mean here 😂

There's a second half to the date--I mean, the outing? Another movie?! 😍 Ooh excited!

Ahaha oh no, I did not do a great retelling there 😂 I was trying for a laugh more than anything, and to keep it simple since retelling Japanese Mythology is definitely not what the Honeyfeed comments section is for (or is it? 👀)

But yes, I was a huge mythology fan in my middle school days and spent months reading myths from every culture 🤣 my problem now is that I get the stories/cultures mixed up, because a lot of the stories have similar themes.

But yes, Izanami's husband going to the underworld to save her...and then failing to do so and trapping her there? Well, I can see some similarities with Takashi's current rescue mission. Maybe that is why Izanami is giving him a hard time 🤭

Mythology time!!
Basically Izanami and Izanagi are the two first gods after like...the seven generations of establishing gods 🤣 but after seven generations you finally get to the Izanas. They get married, inventing the concept of marriage while doing so. Then Izanami gives birth to a leech thing because she spoke during the wedding (because I guess women have to be quiet and demure :l ugh. Myths.) But they redo the wedding, and now this time Izanami gives birth to all of Japan. Somehow. And the bubbles of Izanami and Izanagi's love go on to create the rest of the world.

...when I try to simplify this myth, it sounds ridiculous 🤣

And then Izanami gives birth to Kagutsuchi (the god of fire) and dies during this childbirth. A bunch of gods are born out of her corpse. And then Izanagi weeps for her...and his tears make more gods.
(Have I mentioned how many gods get born in Japanese myths yet?? 🤣)

Then Izanagi goes down to Yomi to get his wife back. He finds her, but Izanami already ate some pomegranates in Yomi, which binds her to the underworld. So she can't leave.

Izanagi stays with her in Yomi anyway. Until one day he lights a torch and sees that his wife is undead and rotting, and is terrified of her. He runs away and seals her in the underworld. Later on he takes a bath to wash off all the rotting grossness...and during that bath, his bathwater turns into more gods. Including Amaterasu.

So basically Gamer God Bath Water is the reason we have the sun 🤣

And I'll use he/him for Kiyoshi, and they/them for Hiromi for now! 👍

Also hai hai, Ñ-sensei! I have a question! Wouldn't their student IDs and uniforms give away their biological genders? Also the medical exams? 🤔 Not sure if these are a thing that all schools have in Japan, but they show up often in anime (Ouran Host Club comes to mind) so I wanted to ask your opinion!
