Everything is intentionally confusing because everything is Harmon's POV, and well... by the end of the next chapter, at least you'll know a bit more about how this manifests, even though it will take much more for the entire picture to be explained. The worst part is that Harmon himself is very confused and doesn't... really admit to it...
So the entire story, whatever Harmon's mind vomits, so to speak, as an author, I'm just throwing back at you 😆 I'll consider improving that and adding such "lampshades" in the future to protect the reader a bit more from this... confusion.
Also, you did guess that right, and dialogue will be more often in the future, it's up to Harmon to be... well, less of an introvert and a shut-in 😩
The Tower Defense setup is 100% intentional, and I'm incredibly shocked and happy because you're the first person that actually figured that out. In real life, I am both a gamer and a hobbyist game developer, so creating a Tower Defence based on this story is actually a plan of mine 😜 but shhh, it's a secret for now.
