Author's Commentary #124:
Time to talk about Chapter 124: Old man Roichi and Jijiji.
I honestly thought I'd never revise the chapter this was based off of, nor ever bring the characters of Jijiji and Ro back. The reason for that is because I felt the original chapter featuring them was one of the weakest chapters in the series.
However, after finalizing the Kirikawa family tree, I decided to bring those two back. Ro, now Roichi, is now Jijiji's older triplet brother. As for Zuina's exact relationship to him, Jijiji and his wife had quintuplets, all of whom were girls. The 4th born, Nayon, is Miyoko's mother, and as you know, Miyoko is Zuina and Rebelle's mother.
In terms of other notable lines, the third oldest quintuplet, Sanari, is Fubuki and Hitomi's mother, meaning she's the grandmother of Yuni, Serika, Kasumi, Nika, and Miku. There are other notable Kirikawa members, however, they won't appear in this series.
I actually did post a full family tree of the Kirikawa clan in my gallery, but be warned there are spoilers for some of my other series, notably En Passant Grandmaster, and the characters from Escape Witch characters all sport their most up to date looks in-universe. In other words, their Escape Witch looks. With that out of the way, let's do some bios for the new characters.
切川 路一 (Kirikawa Roichi) is how Roichi's name is spelled in kanji. 路一 means "road" and "one", while 切川 means "to cut" and "river".
ジジジ (Jijiji) aka 切川 一二三 (Kirikawa Kazujizou) is how Jijiji's name is spelled in Japanese. 一二三 means "one", "two", and "three".
As for their younger triplet sister Minii, 切川 三二一 (Kirikawa Minii) is how her name is spelled in kanji. 三二一 means "three", "two", and "one" and is essentially Kazujirou's name spelled backwards in kanji.
The triplets' birthday is March 3rd, which they share with Kazujirou's descendants, Kasumi, Nika, and Miku.
Roichi and Jijiji's favorite food is soba curry while Minii's is shrimp tempura on rice.
And as a bonus, here's Sachiko. 古林 幸恋 (Kobayashi Sachiko) is how Sachiko's name is spelled in kanji. 幸恋 means "happiness" and "love", while 古林 means "ancient" and "forest".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations, feel free to correct me).
Her birthday is October 15th, which she shares with Rindo Kobayashi from Shokugeki no Soma. Though their surnames are spelled differently in kanji, Sachiko's surname is nonetheless a homage to Rindo's.
Her favorite food is rice and veggies.
One final thing I'll address is what happened with Roichi at the nursing home. Essentially, a yandere nurse there had the hots for him and kidnapped him in order to force herself on him. The nurse then fled and was never heard from again. Unbeknownst to Roichi and the Kirikawa clan in general, the incident led to the nurse becoming pregnant, meaning Roichi does in fact have descendants. One of which being a very important character in another series of mine.
That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
