    Author's Commentary #64:

Time to talk about Chapter 64: Postman Jester.
Jester finally makes his proper debut in the remake, and gets to sing his themesong. He also tried to kill Madoka, but failed and was sent blasting off into the sky.

Obviously, he's a comedic villain and embodies the spirit of Team Rocket from Pokemon. ジェスター is how his name would be spelled in Japanese, and speaking of which, I attempted to do a Japanese translation of his themesong.

Fair warning, since I used Google translate, there's probably a bunch of errors, but here's the Japanese version of Jester's themesong.
[Yoyoi! Ore wa Edo no oku kara kita saidai no hanzai-shadesu. Ore wa soshiki hanzai-kai no ōmonodesu. Daremoga watashi no na o osorete imasu! Ore ga nashitogeta zangyaku kōi wa subete! Satsujin! Yūkai! Bōkō! Mayaku mitsuyu! Dare mo dekimasen waga chikara ni hitteki seyo! Tōnan! Sensō hanzai! Sā, kai, waga ikari o osoreyo! Karera wa piero wa orokamonoda to iimasu. Sate, ima dare ga waratteru no, baka? Rararara Ore-sama wa aku de, hiretsude, jaaku de, hijindōteki de, ankoku ninjutsu daimyō ōo ō ōo ō. Yo ō]

As for how his themesong actually sounds, it sounds similar to Master Kohgha's theme from The Legend of Zelda series. Speaking of which, Master Kohga was the biggest influence behind his character along with Don Kanoji from Bleach and Captain Buggy from One piece.

His birthday is April 1st, which is also April Fool's Day. Iori from En Passant Grandmaster also shares this birthday with him, but the two have no relationship to each other whatsoever.

His favorite food is bananas, which is also the favorite food of Master Kogha and the Yiga clan.

Jester won't be a major antagonist in this series, but there's a good chance he'll pop up every now and again, especially if Madoka's around. Funnily enough in the original, Jester actually kidnapped Madoka for the first time, however, I decided to retcon it in the remake, mainly because I ended up rewriting both Jester's role in the story and the chapter where Madoka first got kidnapped. From here on out though, most Jester and Madoka chapters will be very similar to their original counterparts.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

    Author's Commentary #60:

Time to talk about Chapter 60: Mimi's family.
In the original, this chapter took place right after the Col Masaru's one. I wanted that to happen in the remake as well, but the word maximum for the contest wouldn't allow that so I had this arc start off season 2. Now that Harumi and Madoka have made their proper debuts, let's talk about them.

First up, the Escape Witch herself, Madoka Ginkawa. In kanji, her name is spelled 銀川 窓嘉 (Ginkawa Madoka). 銀川 means "silver river" while 窓嘉 means "window" and "excellent" as well as "opening in the wall".

Her birthday is March 24th which she actually shares with magician, Harry Houdini.

Her favorite food is crepes. She also likes sweets in general. As for how much she loves crepes, you'll find out soon.

銀川 花瑠美 (Ginkawa Harumi) is how Harumi's name is written in kanji. 花瑠美 means "flower", "lapis lazuli", and "beautiful".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations feel free to correct me).

Her birthday is July 11th which is also the day the first chapter of the original Escape Witch was released.

Her favorite food is melon pan with vanilla ice cream.

Both characters are from Escape Witch with Madoka being the main heroine of said novel. This novel will offer a look at what Madoka was like when she was younger. In fact, she might just have the most screen time out of all the side characters not working at Ryokoma in this series.

As for Mimi, she'll now be recognized as an official Ginkawa family member. This means she'll be changing her surname to Ginkawa and getting new proper ID as well as living in the Ginkawa mansion.

Speaking of which, the Ginkawa mansion is located across the bay from Ryokoma. It's so close, the Ginkawas could travel to and from by boat if they choose.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

    Author's Commentary #107:

Time to talk about Chapter 107: Tennison's ICBM.
Carol's getting a chance to shine and showcase one the more fun gambits, the Tennison gambit. Nicknamed the ICBM gambit, this gambit if successful nets you the enemy queen and puts the enemy king in a more precarious position. Speaking of the bird that got blasted in the face with Carol's ICBM, let's talk about him.

エドワード・アレン・ジキル (Edward Allen Jekyll) is how his name is written in katakana. He takes inspiration from both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven.

His birthday is January 29th which is when The Raven was first published.

His favorite piece is the knight because it's the closest piece to resembling a raven, according to him.

While it might seem a bit of a stretch to have a 400-rated player like Carol beat someone rated over 2000 like Jekyll, she managed to win thanks to Jekyll forgetting about the Tennison gambit and falling victim to it. After that, he completely lost it and hasted his demise with blunder after blunder.

Since the Tennison gambit is so satisfying to pull off, I wanted it to be featured in the series, but since advanced level players tend to thwart it, someone like Mimoko likely wouldn't play it. Thus, I decided to have Carol play it.

On a separate note, the cover has been updated and now features Iori. Not to mention, some art of Okisato and Peter has been uploaded to the showcase. I also plan to update the Desperado artwork soon so look forward to that as well.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
