I assume that the Demon Lord had given up love so many years ago (how many hundreds?) due to losing Himena. That's what makes him falling for the angel so difficult.
I will say that this chapter is very dense. From introducing the isekai backstory, filling in on the motives and re-meeting that resulted in chap 1, and the sudden strange behavior of the angel and the new party dynamics - all of that is a bit difficult to digest at a single read. Just looking at it in the viewpoint of a casual reader, but it kind of makes the pacing shift slow and fast at times as I fight to recall how certain things are related.
There's a lot of beautiful language woven throughout. But I feel like there is the occasional gap in which I suddenly get lost, and have to circle back to get my bearings again.
