This actually ended up reminding me of NERV and Evangelion with the child soldiers, secret experiments etc.
I wasn’t expecting Takeshi to die. Poor Reina lost basically everyone.
In the end, I enjoyed this. I have issues with some of the characters feeling a little too similar for most or all of the story, and even Reina had that archetype of seeming slightly one-dimensional for a good chunk of the story till she got to have more personality and back story fleshed out.
Action is well done and clearly written.
I mentioned my biggest complaint early on was this was a story about music idols yet the music was the least fleshed out. It definitely improved in the second half but I still think it’s unfortunately the weakest point from an action standpoint. When the final battle scenes happen and music/lyrics get more attention, it shines, but it also points out how lacking it was earlier. That may just be personal preference for me but that certainly hurt my experience.
In the end, this is a solid light novel, with vibes and characters that I can totally see as anime characters or even as a video game akin to Punishing Gray Raven
