it’s also been quite the challenge to respect and balance Miu’s emotional state. she’s still a fragile, vulnerable young woman. she’s not some one dimensional killer who just wants to burn everything. she needs to keep depth even as she collapses. there’s a righteous rage to her.

I wanted to dive into the conceit of acceptance. I touched on similar things with Kureha in Our Last Summer. “a lack of acceptance would be her acceptance” And in many ways these chapters are the antithesis yet soul twins to Sayane’s journey. Sayane said she never found peace but she found a way. perhaps it will be similar for Miu. will others help her find that, or will it be on her own? who will help? who will hurt her? our quests for peace can so often lead us to so much tragedy.

thank you. it’s funny, these have been the hardest chapters to write for sure. I’m literally planting plot details and clues in individual words in some cases, and setting up stuff that will take ages to pay off. and handling Miu’s descent is a tightrope. even her being naked and exposed was quite the challenge. I didn’t want it to feel violating or degrading or reductive. but it needs weight. these coming chapters will be big as well, with the big chapter coming up. that will set up everything. it’s about to get very intense.
