I was so hyped when I came up with this idea. and originally I actually had the reveal happen way sooner, like the world knew this happened to the songstresses. it was supposed to fully solidify Sayane’s own emotional challenge against them. but in the end I felt the attack on the underworld and her connection to the oppressed was already enough, so this was moved to a twist reveal at the end. it brings it all full circle though, which I think works better at the end, plus it had more impact. Sayane knows what it’s like to have your voice taken and turned into a product. this is a horrifying, extreme version of that.

I’m so glad you liked it! and yep a happy, hopeful ending. there is still much to be done, though. Sayane’s story is not finished. (I may or may not already have an outline done for the remaining novels as well as some songs already written). yep the juxtaposition between the beautiful tranquility of Nikko’s isolation and Tokyo’s neon chaos is an interesting challenge. the tone of Tokyo is definitely different.

I really liked Sayane in this role. she’s a caring persona that brings some needed feminine nurturing to Kaho and to the story. and yes this is definitely a turning point for Kaho. after years of being near comatose and isolated, she’s finally feeling again, both good and bad.

These characters are always an interesting challenge. Being a teen makes it a little easier to tolerate Takumi’s self centered arrogance, but it can definitely get tiring quick! I’m excited to see how you handle it. And we love a calm, quiet person taking down a proud character with just a few lines.
