I’m curious what you think! I adored this story but it’s far from polished. it was my first novel in like 7 years and my first on HF. I’m not sure I stuck the landing but I had this grand vision of a continued series. it’s very gentle for the most part. it was fun. I hope to return to Hana‘s adventure one day.

I’m torn because I am enjoying seeing more of Reina and crew, but again as I said earlier, to be completely honest I’m disappointed that music gets the least amount of focus and description so far. It’s so abstract vs everything else being described so thoroughly.

thanks for checking it out! this was just a fun passion project for me. my most recent stories have been crazy brutal and sad, so I wanted to write something gentle and quiet. and I wanted to do it in one session, so this is truly a first draft. minimal edits, all that. I wanted it to be like ikebana in that it was more about the meditation and sensations created vs perfection and refinement. so flaws and all! it was fun.

Yep to be completely honest, and sorry if you’ve seen this comment already, but this was actually a true first draft effort. I set out to write this like an ikebana experience, flaws and all. so I had a pretty clear vision of the perspective I wanted etc, but I didn’t sweat it too much. everything was more about the vibe and emotion of the story. I wrote it in 20 days without wanting to be overly concerned about making it “proper”, and instead just wanted to luxuriate in the experience. it was fun, and very relaxing, but it definitely means this is far from perfect execution. even some of the bigger issues that might not land in the end for everyone, I want to leave them as is, so that this story really does stay as a simple moment in time for me. it was a fun, atypical challenge!

aw thank you Jen. I hope you enjoy the story. it’s a nice, melancholy tale with a few intense moments, but overall it’s gentle. if you want to get some more vibe inspiration, I had 2 songs in loop when I wrote this, which I think helped set the tone.
The band is called Fading Languages and the songs were Weep and Autumn Warmth. they have a tranquil, somewhat somber ambience that I loved for this story. thanks for checking it out!

yep I’m a metal head so I really wanted to write something heavy, but I thought it was fun to show that not only does Sayane never back down from a challenge, she also just genuinely loves MUSIC. in every form. even back to the very first chapter when she was humming along to the faint sounds of another more successful idol’s music without being jealous, Sayane just adores all of it.
