I understand why Nina has a hard time accepting why someone could be interested in her. But I wonder about Mel. She doesn’t like fake people. She has had bad relationships in the past and is scared of that, but being afraid of relationship, is different than being honest with yourself about your feelings. Why does she struggle with this. I am just trying to know her more. What made her stop painting the landscape to making abstracts? Is it just the money? She likes the money, but she is not happier for it. Oh and I remember having to pick my father up from bars like that and dragging him home. By the way, you don’t have to answer my questions. I just like to think outloud sometimes. loving the story.

in the original, she was faced with the same choice, to free her mother, but permanently open the portal or close the portal and lose her mother. it had a happier ending. but when writing the idea of sacrifice came to me. it makes for a more somber ending though.

😭That was close. A greatly timed message from Mel saved her. I am wondering what exactly had happened, but fear that it is worse than even I can imagine. I thought that it was survivors guilt, bu this is much more than that. For some reason, she feels responsible for their deaths. 😭
