It definitely is!
And even tho this story has been lighthearted so far, the world hasn't actually been presented as safe... (we've got human ears weared as trophies, ghosts originating from slaughtered woman, a land described as savaged by war...)

So I was hoping this chapter doesn’t read like: "Surprise! This cute fantasy world is actually horrible!" But more like Pan has finally encountered the consequences of things the story has been telling all along.

This chapter is supposed to show the price of accepting the philosophy Haku explained back in Boragmgar: If every ordinary life matters, then losing one matters too.

And just how much this ordinary life mattered will hopefully be shown in the upcoming chapters

I really hope it doesn’t feel like it comes out of nowhere just for the sake of shock value... I struggled with this chapter for a long time, but ultimately came to the conclusion that it serves a meaningful narrative purpose. One that will hopefully become clearer over the next few chapters and show why it exists...🙏

First of all: I love me a good travel chapter in the woods, especially when it's as atmospheric as this one!

Kaia seems hard to impress tho, so Elian will have to work extra hard if he wants to win her over! ;P

It still leaves a bitter aftertaste, tho, with two previous heroines dead, both of them pregnant...
