I also wanted to address how well you captured the immediate post-war feeling, people looking for a purpose, who lost everything, or who know nothing but war.

Yeah, I think a lot of stories tend to underestimate just how adaptable humanity can be in times of crisis! That’s also something I always disliked about Attack on Titan tbh... I mean after hundreds of years, they still don’t come up with fundamentally better solutions, despite already knowing the Titans’ weaknesses!?it’s hard to imagine humanity not developing better solutions, like goddamn traps or whatever. But I digress, sorry lol

funny thing is that in most zombie movies, it tends to globalize the apocalypse within weeks.
In a 17th-century context though, without globalization, modern transport etc. I think it’s plausible that some regions would collapse completely while others might avoid the outbreak almost entirely, similar to how historical plagues spread unevenly.

I already kinda expected that there wouldn’t be a detailed explanation of the magic, since you wrote earlier that you like to leave such things to the readers’ imagination, which I can absolutely understand :3

I read source material for my history studies which included the "Tagebuch des Peter Hagendorf" which was basically a diary of soldier in that time. Also The Walking Dead was pretty popular back then and I thought "Hey! Why not something like that but historicaly accurate!?"
