I think it works well with the overall pace of your story!

“He couldn’t defeat Mr. Kage’s grief with force” ,that quote is basically the essence of your story, so stretching the battle too long would have felt strange when harmony is the main message.

What I’m trying to say is… I think the chapter is great, and I really enjoyed it :3 <3

For me personally it's a bit tiresome to read a whole chapter in italics, but that's just me.

I always enjoy flashback chapters, especially when they shed some light on an antagonist’s tragic past, like you did with Mr. Kage. :3

One thing that felt slightly off to me was that the whole text was written in italics...

I think it would still be clear that it’s set in the past even without that formatting.
