Fantastic chapter.. That moment when Jun tells her, “It wasn’t your fault,” and she finally lets herself cry… it hit me right in the chest. After carrying that guilt alone for so long, having someone not only listen but absolve her must feel like coming up for air.
Jun’s backstory about his mentor and the failed case adds so much depth to his character. It makes this whole thing about redeeming a past failure, for both of them. They really are mirrors of each other: two people weighed down by guilt, trying to find a way to live with it.
The care in his actions, tending to her wounds, I can feel the foundation of something being built here on shared brokenness. Beautifully done.
