This chapter nails the mood. The rainy night, greasy diner, and neon lights all create this classic gritty, crime-thriller vibe that feels straight out of a noir film. The dialogue’s sharp and real, just two guys casually planning something huge like it’s no big deal, which makes everything feel even more dangerous. I love it!
What really works is the shift in tone: it starts quiet and almost mundane, then snaps into brutal violence without warning. That sudden escalation is pulled off really well, and the action feels fast, messy, and very real. The way Morris and Paulie stay calm through all of it says a lot about who they are… efficient, and used to this kind of danger.
It’s a great scene with tension, dark humor, and some real style.
I love your character work… it’s 🔥🔥
