Oh wow, what a leap from the playful chaos of Chapter 1 to the emotional intensity here! I love how this chapter starts quietly, almost melancholic, with Lucius waking up alone and questioning whether Melissa was even real. That tiny hoofprint in the butter was such a perfect touch, funny, whimsical, and bittersweet all at once.
Then BOOM the story expands beautifully once she returns and pulls him into her world. The description of Dionysus’ realm was absolutely vivid: the scent of crushed grapes, the golden vines, the eternal celebration, it all felt lush, intoxicating, and just a little dangerous, exactly as it should.
Lucius’s confession caught me off guard (in a good way). It’s so honest and human, and Melissa’s reaction, her laughter masking sadness, was perfectly written. That moment when she guides his hand to her chest and says, “Hold on to this feeling… that’s all there can ever be,” was beautiful.
And then the ending…. wow. The pacing built up to that wish so naturally, but still managed to shock. “I wish to take Melissa as my wife!” was such a bold, reckless, Lucius move. The stunned silence that followed really sold the gravity of it.
This chapter deepened both characters so much. The tone shift from comedy to mythic romance is seamless, and it left me desperate to know what happens next. Excellent progression, equal parts romantic, tragic, and divine.
Loved it! ❤️
